Weekend Retreat

Gentle Hatha Yoga and the postural awareness of the Alexander Technique come together for a weekend of exploration and compassion towards our bodies and ourselves.

This weekend retreat will combine Hatha Yoga (postures, breath and meditation) with Alexander Technique’s extra focus on awareness of how we move, our patterns of tension and holding.

Two experienced teachers who share a philosophy of “less is more” will help you explore the innate wisdom of the human body. Through movement, relaxation and meditation we will be learning something that, deep down, our bodies already know.

Workshop sessions
Starting on Friday evening and ending on Sunday afternoon, there will be seven workshops exploring Alexander Technique and a gentle approach to Hatha Yoga, deep relaxation and meditation. The gentle, hands-on touch of Alexander Technique will help you to experience deeper release and ease in yoga postures.

We guarantee a small group which will be led by two highly experienced practitioners, giving a quality of individual attention not always available in larger retreats.

Experienced Teachers
Tanya Shoop has practised the Alexander Technique for 20 years and been teaching since 2003. With a practical, down-to-earth approach, she is skilled at helping people improve their posture and feel more comfortable in their minds and bodies.

Chris Holt has practised Hatha Yoga for 20 years and since 2008 has been teaching yoga and meditation, specialising in gentle therapeutic and restorative yoga for people who think they’re not fit or bendy enough to do yoga!

Nourish yourself
As well as Hands-On Yoga, there will be time to walk in the beautiful gardens, or simply relax with a book or stare at the sky…

The retreat centre
Holland House is a tranquil retreat centre set in three acres of beautiful gardens at Pershore in Worcestershire. It is centred around a 16th Century half-timbered, part thatched building with the River Avon flowing by. We will have the run of the old house with its drawing room, library and beamed dining room and our workshops will take place in “The Den”, a light and airy space with underfloor heating, set in the grounds.

A member of the Sustainable Restaurant Association, all food is prepared and freshly cooked each day from local ingredients: fruit juices from the Vale of Evesham and honey is from beehives in the garden. Meals are generous and there are home-baked cakes and biscuits for afternoon tea.

Single room £385 per person

Price includes accommodation, all meals, Hands-On Yoga sessions, use of the grounds. Does not include: travel, yoga mats.
